Dear Members,
We enjoyed our first workshop following the Summer break, it was very well attended, planned and executed workshop with Stuart Law on the 20th September.

Stuart provided equipment and a thorough day plan to try and make the most of the time available. Part of this involved preparing a small exemplar flower stem piece which we masked off in order to complete at a later stage. We then worked on the main larger watercolour piece, drawing a freehand flower stem of the Alstroemeria which Stuart had brought with him. There were several very informative demonstrations of different watercolour techniques throughout the day and Stuart made a point of explaining to individually to those attending ways in which they might approach aspects of their work.
Stuart explained how he had used Japanese influences in his textiles and his watercolours and was desperate to continue his artistic work because he still had so many ideas and so little time !
So many beautiful paintings were produced during the day although we didn’t manage to finish many, but Stuart gave us instruction on how to continue at home and added that he would love to see any of the finished pieces if we wanted to email photos of them to him and he would be happy to provide feedback ( this may not be immediate as he has a very full diary up to Christmas, but he would get back to individuals when he could) Stuart also gave everyone a greeting card gift of his work ,which was very well received.

Stuart also brought a selection of silk scarves incorporating his textile designs that he had produced but didn’t have time to show everyone. These are available to view and purchase on his webpage.
